Uniting to Prevent Targeted Violence in Southeast Wisconsin (UPTV) is a non-partisan civic engagement program that aims to prevent targeted violence (i.e. premeditated physical violence directed at a specific individual, group, or location, particularly violence aimed at someone because of their group identity or affiliation) in Kenosha, Milwaukee, Racine, Walworth, and Waukesha counties.
We will select 28 community members (Uniters) from southeast Wisconsin to work across generational, geographic, political, racial, and other differences to prevent targeted violence. Uniters will receive valuable training to strengthen collaboration skills and build relationships, and they will work closely with a community partner organization to design and implement county projects that support the partner's work and address a cause of targeted violence. A budget of $10,000 will support each county project and each Uniter will receive a $1,000 fellowship stipend for their participation in the program, which runs from June 2024 until September 2025.
